Wheat Flour

This week we are cutting down on white flour foods.  I know there are many whole grain alternatives out there, however, it may be prudent to start shopping at health food stores in order to give yourself a larger variety of breads or other products that contain flour.

There are some regular grocery stores that may have good breads, but many that I've tried don't.  For example, I have family members that live in a very rural area where there are NO health food stores.  Yes, you read that correctly there are NO health food stores in their neighborhood.  We tried shopping for bread at one of their local grocery stores once.  I went through EVERY loaf of brown bread and I couldn’t find even one loaf with no white flour and no white sugar.  Every single one had one or the other.  Most health food stores tend to have something for everyone.  Almost all of the health food stores I've been to had a nice selection of organic breads.

If you have any recipes for good whole grain breads, that would be even better than buying it because you could leave out ingredients that you are trying to stay away from and you can find alternatives for things like sugar.  If you would like to share a recipe, please refer to the Wellness Cafe on the Whole Health Destinations page.
