I'm grateful that the moisturizers that I've been using aren't forms of phytoestrogen. Shea butter and coconut oil are wonderful moisturizers, and neither will further my problem. Many moisturizers have xenoestrogens like propylene glycol or paraben. The ones at the health food stores are often better, but be careful to always read ingredients anyway. "Green" products are sometimes made with an intention to create a better world, but often they are simply made to sell. After all, there are many who look for "greener" products these days. Also, keep in mind, because these green/health products sell so well, they are often made by the same mainstream food and cola companies who couldn't care less about health or sustainability. Their priority is producing something that you, the consumer, will buy.
Shea butter and coconut oil also serve as fabulous hair conditioners. The Shea butter mostly. If you have hair that is on the oilier side, you may want to try something else. If your hair is normal or on the dryer side, Shea butter conditions beautifully! Some people can't put it on their face, though, so be careful if you have skin that is sensitive to oils. When in doubt, always consult your doctor.
